Settings¶
You can reach the App’s settings menu from the home screen by tapping the “More” button at the top-right corner of the top-bar.
File Version Checking¶
If you open a file, such as a map, you can control how often the App is checking if new versions of that file are available on the cloud storage side. Checking for new versions is time consuming because it requires additional requests to be send to your cloud storage provider which might be slow due to latency times.
Every Time: This will make the App to check for new version of a file every time you open that file. This also included file dependencies such as tileset graphics for example. This is only recommend if you know that the files are changed frequently outside of the App or if you simply don’t want to restart the App after you edited the project outside of the App. For example, if you edited graphic files with a painting program. However, as described in File Conflicts, the App is not designed for team projects.
Every Time for Maps only: This will make the App to check for new version of a Map every time you open that Map. But it won’t check for resource files such as tileset graphics. This is only recommend if you know that the Maps are changed frequently outside of the App or if you simply don’t want to restart the App after you edited the project outside of the App. This is the recommended default setting. However, as described in File Conflicts, the App is not designed for team projects.
First time after launch: This will make the App to check for new version of a file only when you open it the first time since App launch. It requires a restart of the App if you have edited the project outside the to access the latest version of files. That also means that if you forget restarting the App after you edited your project on your PC/Mac for example, then you might overwrite your project files with outdated data.
File Caching¶
Note: If you turn off caching, thumbnails of maps aren’t generated The App caches downloaded file locally by default for faster access next time. However, if you run out of disk space for example you can disable caching. Especially if you use the Play-Test feature the App also caches all files the running game requests which includes audio files as well which might take up a lot of disk space depending on the game.
View Cached Files You can take a look at the cached files yourself using the Open Cache Folder button. If that button doesn’t work for some reason, you can navigate into the App’s folder, the Mapper MZ folder, using Files.app on your device and look for asset_cache.
Delete Cached Files You can either delete the cached files manually using the Files.app or by long-pressing the project on the App’s home screen and select clear cache. If you Logout with Clear Cache option, the entire cache will be cleared.
Cloud Storage Authentication¶
*Note: Regardless of the settings you pick, after a short amount time (e.g. 1-2 hours) you are disconnected automatically by your cloud storage provider for security reasons.
Configures the logout behavior of the app if you connect to cloud storages. It is highly recommended to read Security Settings first to understand what logout behavior means.
Disconnect Manually: This will remove access to your session with a cloud storage provider whenever you tap on Logout on the App’s home screen.
Disconnect on App Close: This will remove access to your session with a cloud storage provider whenever you close/start the App. This is recommended if you share your device with other people or if you use the App on another person’s device.
Is there no permanent login setting?¶
Unfortunately, not right now. Because we only request a so called online access from your cloud storage provider, which means only while the user is interacting with the app and gives consent again after a while.. So your cloud storage provider invalidates your session automatically after a short amount of time (e.g. 2 hours) for security reasons and you have to give your consent again. See also Authentication Settings. We might consider trying to change this depending on user feedback.
Thumbnail Generation¶
The App generates thumbnails for each map on the map selection screen to make easier for you to recognize your maps. However, to generate those thumbnails the App needs to download the necessary tileset graphics for each map which might consumes additional bandwidth depending on project complexity. Therefore, you can configure it:
Always: Thumbnails are always generated regardless of the network type you are connected to.
Only on WiFi: Thumbnails are only generated if you device indicates that you are connected to a WiFi network.
Never: Thumbnails are never generated.
Bug Reporting and Feedback¶
Allows you to report bugs or give feedback. Please checkout the other Help entries on this Website and the Frequently Asked Questions first to see if your issue already has been answered.
Report a Bug: Composes an e-mail to allow you to report a bug manually. This is useful for bugs not related to crashes.
Automatic Crash Reporting: Opt-in for automatic crash reporting. This might be already enabled if you decided to opt-in on first launch of the App. If enabled, the App will automatically send crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics to give the developer the opportunity to check and possibly fix those crashes/bugs.
Send Crash Reports: If you opt-out for automatic crash reporting, this will send any locally gathered crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics to give the developer the opportunity to check and possibly fix those crashes/bugs. If that option is greyed out it means there are no crash reports available at the moment.
Important¶
