Logout Settings (Security)

If you connect Mapper MZ to any of the supported cloud storages such as Dropbox or OneDrive, you should possibly logout of/disconnect from all cloud storages after you are done using the app. For example, if you share your device with others or if you are using Mapper MZ on another person’s device.

What authentication settings are available?

Note: Regardless of the settings you pick, after a short amount of time (usually 1-2 hours) you are disconnected automatically by your cloud storage provider.

The App allow you to control how your session with cloud storages you connected to is managed. By default, you can easily disconnect using the Logout button on the App’s Home Screen at the top-left corner of the top-bar. See also Manage Projects. But you can also configure “Disconnect on App Close” to get automatically disconnected when you close the app or the app is launched again.

You can find the settings in the App’s settings menu under “CLOUD STORAGE AUTHENTICATION”.

What if I didn’t logout?

If you don’t disconnect the App yourself, due to the authentication mechanism the App uses to connect to cloud storages, the App usually automatically get disconnected by your cloud storage provider after a certain time period (usually 2 hours) for security reasons. But this entirely depends on the cloud storage you use and the settings you have in place.

However, until the automatic disconnect happens, if another person gains access to your device or if you use the App on another person’s device, then that person has access to your project files and it would be possible to delete, edit or overwrite existing files and possibly harm your project. Therefore, you should definitely logout in such cases.

Is there no permanent/forever login setting?

Unfortunately, not right now. Because we only request a so called online access from your cloud storage provider, which means only while the user is interacting with the app and gives consent again after a while.. So your cloud storage provider invalidates your session automatically after a short amount of time (e.g. 2 hours) for security reasons and you have to give your consent again. We might consider trying to change this depending on user feedback.
